Key Loading Equipment
Mustang offers two versions of its Universal Key Injection (UKI) units. The first device. UKI One, was developed back in 2004. UKI Two is currently in development and expected to be released by the end of 2007. They are both Tamper Resistant Security Module (TRSM) based Universal Key Injection Systems, capable of Key injection into a wide variety of both new and legacy, PIN PAD and Payment Terminals. See below for further details about each model.
UKI Two
The UKI Two is a secure device that can inject single DES DUKPT and TDES DUKPT keys into most pin-pads from Hand Held Products, Hypercom, Symbol, and VeriFone.
With UKI Two, the user assembles a key once, under a secret Key Encryption Key known only to the user. The user can load that key into all of his pinpads even if from different manufacturers, using the same encrypted key file, and the same procedures.
We built the device because:
- The industry needs a successor for the popular VeriFone MKI and other legacy products – a device that uses a true TRSM. The TRSM allows all keying material to be stored in encrypted form, using double-length keys.
- There are many service centers, and retailers who have keying centers that require a secure TRSM based key loader in order to meet current security requirements.
- This device is a solution for PED manufacturers who do not offer their own key loading tools.
- There are many depots (like ours) that load keys into several different manufacturers’ pin-pads. Prior to UKI Two, those depots were required to buy and learn to operate several different key loading systems and build different key files. UKI Two does it all.
Comments about the Design:
- The UKI Two is based upon an internally packaged TRSM (Tamper Resistant Security Module) and an embedded microcontroller that adapts the UKI to other PEDs.
- The product is designed for security and reliability, with dual control physical keys, and a tamper-evident enclosure.
- The device uses standard interface cables from the terminal manufacturers. No “custom” cables are required outside the box.
UKI OneThe UKI One is a secure device that can inject all legacy pin-pads from Hand Held Products, Hypercom, Symbol, VeriFone, and many of the newer PIN entry devices (PEDs) that still support single length Master Keys, and single length DUKPT. |

- The UKI One is based upon a proven internally packaged key loader.
- The product is designed for security and reliability, with dual control power keys, and a tamper-evident enclosure.
- The device uses standard interface cables from the terminal manufacturers. No “custom” cables are required outside the box.
